Instructor
This course introduces you to the world of drone flying using Mode 2—the most popular control setup worldwide. You’ll learn how to use the controller’s sticks to move your drone up, down, left, right, forward, and backward—plus how to spin it in place. With easy-to-understand lessons and cool examples, you’ll be flying like a pro in no time!
As you progress, you'll also explore essential safety practices to ensure a smooth and responsible flying experience. By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence and skills to navigate various flying environments.
This course includes 3 modules, 6 lessons, and 2:00 hours of materials.
You’ll master the four main movements that make drones fly: throttle (up and down), yaw (spinning left or right), pitch (forward and backward), and roll (side to side).
Before you begin the quiz, please write your full name before start the quiz. This helps us know who you are and keep track of your progress.
Now that you've learned the basics of controlling a drone using Mode 2, it’s time to put your knowledge into action. In this final project, you'll create a drone flight mission plan, explain how to use the Mode 2 control sticks, and simulate what you'd do in different flight situations.
📌 Assignment Instructions:
1. 🗺️ Create Your Mission Plan
Design a short drone mission for one of the following purposes:
- Aerial photography over a park
- Delivery of a small package
- Search and rescue training
- Filming a sports event
- Include the following in your plan:
- Objective of the mission
- Takeoff location and landing zone
- Route overview (with estimated altitude and distance)
- Time of day and weather (real or imagined)
2. 🕹️ Control Guide: Mode 2 in Action (200–300 words)
Explain how you’ll use the Mode 2 remote control to complete your mission:
- What does the left stick do, and when do you use it?
- What does the right stick do, and how do you coordinate both?
- How do you handle takeoff, turning, hovering, and landing?
- Use flight terms like: pitch, roll, throttle, yaw, and altitude where appropriate.
3. ⚠️ Emergency Scenario Response (150–200 words)
Pick one challenge and describe how you would react using Mode 2 controls:
- Sudden gust of wind
- Low battery warning mid-flight
- Obstacle detected during flight
- Lost visual line of sight
Explain the steps you would take to keep the drone safe and land it successfully.
